Going North on the St. John's River from the Sanford Marina across Lake Monroe through to half way across Lake George to the Silver Glen springs run for a quick dip in the clear clean water.  On the way back will stop at a killer little seafood joint for lunch but it is a long ride so be sure you bring some drinks and snacks to tide you over.  This is a long trip.. 2 hours each way.  This is a nice day in the sun but it is a long ride and gas may be an issue.. we will stop  two times for gas on the way there and back.. expect to fill up at least twice for this trip, on the way there and on the way back if you have a three seater like mine...

We may stop if it is really hot for a dip in Blue Springs on the way.  Bring an extra gas tank if you want to.

The spring pool here at Silver Glen Springs is about 200 feet across. While it's only about 2 to 3 feet deep in many places, around the springs the depth is about 18 feet. One well-executed surface dive takes you to the bottom where you can peer into the two caves where the waters gush from beneath the earth.
One interesting feature about Silver Glen Springs is you find both saltwater and freshwater fish here. You'll see large mullet, freshwater panfish, maybe some blue crabs, and I've even seen small sting rays scooting along the sandy bottom of the spring run.

Guide: Tina O'Connell
Meeting March 22nd, Saturday at 9:00am SHARP we leave the dock.. latest at 9:15am ..
This ramp has a HUGE boat trailer parking area with over 75 spots but just in case there are two other ramps within 400 ft. north of this one, one on either side of the St. John's River by the I-4 bridge.... one on SR 46 just by I-4 with 45 spots and the other directly across the river..  with 85 spots, any stragglers will have to hustle to catch up..  Lots of twists and turns and some high speed action!  There are a couple of slow zones on the way ...through blue springs is the longest.. 15 minutes..

Weather should be about 83 and sunny and a bit humid.. so bring sunblock and wear cool clothes.. I will bring the beatles tunes : )

Your comments, suggestions and advise for all of us are welcome!

What a blast!

OK.. so not everyone could make it.. but the few of us there was.. braved the morning cool air for an amazingly fun journey.. and a great little dive at the cave in Silver Glen.

We stopped at Blue springs for a cold jump in the spring and ran into Hurricane, Rocket and Annie the manatees... Rocket and Annie were just sleeping but Hurricane followed us out into the St. John's and we slid in the water with him and he just had fun going up to us and teasing us like he was going to play and then running just swimming away.

After we went to Swamp House for lunch and then off to a long ride to Silver Glen.. got there a bit later than expected so we only dived for about 20 min... then raced almost all the way back except in the slow zones.. it was just getting dark when we hit the dock.. and pulled out and ended up at Denny's for dinner.. It was a great time and for those who went I do not think we will forget any time soon what a great adventure and many laughs and splashes we had!

Laughs and fun!
Thanks guys!

See you at the rally on the 12th and 13th of April.

Caio,
Tina
