|
This is a wicked fun ride.. starting at the ramp in Ormand Beach, FL right off the A1A/Granada SR40 bridge were heading north on the Halifax where it turns into the Mantanza's river for a fun trip to play in the waves and sand at Mantanzas Inlet.. expect to see dolphins along the way and much more when you get there!!!
Great place to bring the tubes or skis to play around.. or snorkeling gear.
The night before is daylight savings time so do set your clocks forward an hour before you go to bed and show up on time.. we leave the dock at 9:15am sharp.. stragglers head north and catch up, better go fast!
My number is: 321-299-5796 if you have any questions or need help.
Directions to the ramp:
Ft. Mantanzas Run- This Sunday!
Meet us at the boat ramp at the base of the Granada Bridge in Ormond Beach, This Sunday, March 9th, 2008 at 9:00 am sharp. Do not be late. You stragglers will need to head north on the river at high speed to play catch up as were leaving right on the dot at 9:15am from the dock. This is a long ride and there are not many slow zones so it is sure to be a blast.
Pack a lunch, and plenty of drinks, sun-block and bring money for gas as we will need to stop on the way back for gas for any of you who ride 2-seater or larger skis unless you want to bring a gas can to save a few bucks. Large group expected and it is high speed so be sure to strap that gas can on tight for a wicked ride. Also at the inlet it is very shallow in the wave breaks be careful if you decide to jump waves a bit.
This is long ride each way straight down the river at high speeds most of the way. Very little slow zones are on this ride and it is about 1 hour and a half ride to the inlet. Bunches of fun to be expected. There is a nice spot at the inlet to play with tubes or snorkel. See ya there!
Below are the maps to get to the ramp and the ride. Directions are below.
Take the ramp on the left onto I-4 E to I-95 N
Take the exit on the left onto I-95 N toward Jacksonville - 7.5 mi
Take exit 268 toward Ormond Beach - 0.3 mi
Merge onto W Granada Blvd/SR-40 E - 4.3 mi
Turn right at S Beach St/CR-4011 - 354 ft
Turn left immediately into the boat ramp.
Ramp Address:
23 South Beach Street
Ormond Beach, Florida 32175
Reef at Mantanzas Inlet GPS
Coordinates-29-31.65'N/80-57.00'W
I checked the weather .. looking at fog in the am then high of 75 cool breeze with some cloud cover expected.. bring a dive boat coat or wind jacket and you may want to wear a spring suit to keep warm.. I suggest layers.
Your comments are welcome.
this ramp is not huge but big enough for the 36 people who have confirmed they are comming so far.. if you have not confirmed .. call or shoot me a quick email or post up here please.
Newsletter has all these details will be out in the morning. Thanks.

Fort Mantanzas ride... from Ormand beach ramp right on the A1A bridget north on the river.. nice long ride.. fill you tanks baby and lets splash down!
March 9th... Wheww alot is happening this month..
This is a nice wide river that goes from black to clear water the closer you get to the Matanzas Inlet.
One the way we will see an old spanish fort, dolphins, manatees, and some twists and turns with very little slow zones.
It will be sunny and beautiful and a REAL RIDE.. not a meet and greet..
Although we will still have time to hang out this will be an adventure tour.
No sponsor for this ride. Pack your LUNCH, and bring enough extra cash to fill up your gas tanks on the way there. You will need it. It is a long trip out.. takes a couple of hours of high speed fun.
I do not want to monopolize the ride choices. What I would really like to see happen here is all our members, check the calendar pick a day and help to plan a ride in an area they know. For each of you to HOST a ride.. show us your rivers and trails...
Keep it real and going strong.. I only know my town and this will get boring if I am guiding all the events.
I need you guys to plese pitch in.. post here with details of where you want to go, what you want to do.. there is also a ride planning section where you can work out allthe kinds and get a feel for what you want to do.
To make this a sccuess we will need ACTIVE members.
I look forward to hanging with you all soon!
All my best!
Thanks. _________________ Tina O'Connell

Please if you are comming do one of three things..
1. Leave me a message 321-299-5796
2. Shoot me a quick email TinaOConnell@cfl.rr.com
2. Post on the site here with a reply that you will be there.
There is parking for over 150 folks here on the bridge and the park next door so I see no reason why we will not have a blast.
Be there on time we will leave right on the dot... stragglers will have to catch up.
See ya there
